Rental Frequently Asked Questions
What are the requirements for renting a wheelchair accessible vehicle?
To rent a wheelchair accessible vehicle, you must provide a valid driver’s license, a valid full-coverage insurance policy, and a major credit or debit card. (See Rental Requirements for more details.)
Are there any additional fees I should be aware of?
There are no hidden fees beyond the standard rental contract. Rentals are charged at a daily rate and are subject to an 11.5% MD Sales and Use Tax. Additional mileage can be added for $0.18 per mile upfront or paid as a mileage penalty at the time of return for $0.21 per mile.
How do I modify my reservation if my plans change?
Please contact Jerry's Mobility immediately if your plans change, so we can confirm availability and inform you of any additional costs or possible prorated refunds. Rental cancellations require a 24-hour notice, or a $75 cancellation fee may apply.
Can I add a driver to my rental?
Yes, one additional driver can be added at no extra cost. Adding more than two drivers may incur additional fees. Please contact Jerry’s Mobility for more information. All drivers must be listed as authorized on the insurance policy provided.
What if I need assistance during my rental period?
The rental vehicle is considered your personal vehicle during the rental period. In the case of a normal wear-and-tear incident (e.g., flat tire, accident, or damage), the renter is responsible. However, if you experience a mechanical failure with the vehicle or its conversion, Jerry’s Mobility will supply a replacement. In case of an emergency, please call 911.
How old do you have to be to rent a wheelchair accessible vehicle?
To rent a wheelchair accessible vehicle, you must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license and full-coverage insurance that extends to the rental vehicle. A copy of your license and insurance will need to be provided.
How far in advance should I book a rental?
Wheelchair accessible vehicle rentals are in high demand. While same-day rentals are possible, we highly recommend booking several weeks in advance to ensure availability, especially during weekends, holidays, and summer months.
Rental Requirements:
A valid driver’s license is required for the individual operating the vehicle. One additional driver may be added at no extra cost, provided all drivers present a valid driver’s license.
A current and valid insurance card is required, with coverage that includes both comprehensive and collision policies. The policy must have deductibles no greater than $1,000.00. All operators of the vehicle must be listed as authorized drivers on the provided insurance policy.
Payment is due at the time of vehicle pick-up. Payments can be made via credit or debit card. However, a major credit card must be kept on file for incidentals. Please note that no hold charges will be applied for this purpose.
